The Totnes Museum, like a time machine, takes visitors back to other
worlds: from prehistoric times, through the Elizabethan period (from which
the building dates), moving on to the Victorian age, the time of Charles
Babbage (father of the computer), and the ill-fated Australian expedition of
W. J. Wills. The Totnes Museum is not a dry academic exhibition, it is a
lively presentation designed with families and children in mind.
There are guessing games, puzzles, dolls houses, railway paraphernalia, a
Victorian grocer’s shop, an Elizabethan kitchen and much more. It is a
service point for Devon Records Office and is reputed to have one or two
extra guests, of the ghostly kind. |
