First Spark Festival: Contact Improvisation Jam and A Band Performance. Meet at 2pm in Studio 20, Dartington Space

Pay what you can afford, between 50p and £50 - please bring food or drink to share, preferably traditional Imbolc treats such as sheep's cheese and bannock bread. A Soundart Radio event for the third First Spark Festival. Celebrating the fire festival, Imbolc, and the first sparks of spring. This year's theme is improvisation.

Come along to participate in a contact improvisation jam with musical accompaniment. Beginning with an introductory workshop to contact improvisation, suitable for beginners, with warm up and skills sharing.

At 6pm we welcome A Band to perform space. A Band is an improvised music collective of “an ever-fluctuating group of artists” founded in the late 1980s. They never usually perform as ‘A Band’ and instead rename themselves for each billing as something beginning with the letter ‘A’. The A Band’s performances can end up with a carnival-like atmosphere involving audience participation; that is when the A Band is at its best.
