Transition Town Totnes's core message is that 'the future with less oil could be preferable to the present, if we can engage sufficiently in advance with enough imagination, creativity and adaptability'. It aims to help to prepare for life beyond cheap oil and gas. In the five years or so since its inception, TTT has already inspired an international movement of over 900 cities, towns and villages. It has started a range of projects and programme of events which include: The Totnes Pound, a local food guide 'A Celebration of Local Food', Garden Share, linking gardeners with owners of underused gardens, planting of nut bearing trees in the town and the Energy Descent Action Plan.
